However, originally the group was named 14 Karat Harmony and only consisted of three of the four members. The group members, Woody, Sisqo, Nokio, and Jazz all grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. Dru Hill told the story of four guys, all from one city, who came together to form the R&B group known around the world in the ’90s. The network kicked off the month of greatness on Thursday, June 2 with an original documentary, followed by an encore presentation of UNSUNG: Dru Hill.

TV One is celebrating Black Music Month with original programming and musical performances during the month of June. He also says he offered to finish up tours and the like but Sisqo said he might as well leave now so they could get used to his absence.Dru Hill members include (l-r) Jazz, Sisqo, Nokia, & Woody (courtesy of TV One) He said he played the song "I'll Bow Out Gracefully" and Sisqo was crying so he can't act like he didn't know.

At the end he seemed to be responding to Sisqo directly(maybe an older interview, this is from 2017). He says Sisqo was getting most if the screen time(true) and he felt like Will didn't care if he was there or not so he left with a girl. He still stayed after that but his final straw was the Wild Wild West video with Will Smith. He said that same day was a shooting in a club in Paris they performed at and all he could think of the story of Jonah and the whale. He said he lost heart to tell the group he wanted to leave the next day because it was like a family. He heard a voice that said "You will never get what you're looking for if you aren't doing it for me". He said he prayed and asked why when he was putting in 100% on stage that everyone else got more screams than him. They sung for Kirk Franklin at a Soul Train event once and when he sang his part he got a good reaction from Kirk. Felt he could bring more to the gospel field since he is a very spiritual person.

Says he rather be on a losing team that he is valuable to or bring something to the table to as opposed to a winning team where he doesn't contribute anything. In Paris Woody decided to stay on the tour bus because he wasn't in the best mental space and didn't want to impact other ppl's good time. He said he didn't want to do it and tried to come up with alternatives because it wasn't in line with his new direction but they(The label?) wouldn't allow it.Įdit: Another part of this interview series: Another condition was him doing a cameo in The Thong Song video. He said a condition of him being able to record his gospel album was to come back and do the third Dru Hill project after he left. Woody says he felt uncomfortable doing secular music and tried to bring it to the guys to see if there was anything that could be done, but there wasn't. Woody came out about his side of the story a few years ago. These are just my thoughts from observations I've seen. Sisqo was the lead star singer of the group and had the air and aura of that and may have shown arrogance behind the scenes among them that divided the group because he was probably shown favoritism from the record label when he went solo. Which really threw major trust issues within the group once it was uncovered. Nokio I heard ripped all of them off with some contract he had them sign where he benefited the most financially from publishing I think. Wants money, but doesn't necessarily want to put forth the work and effort needed to get the residuals of hard labor.

I think Woody has some mental/emotional issues ever since the death of his mother and battled singing secular music over gospel music since his mother didn't really approve of him singing secular music. The cliffs were enough where I don't need to watch the video. I use to really like Dru Hill growing up.
